Sack

Whitley felt like a heavy sack of potatoes.

She was just there thinking if one more obligation could topple her, like a domino effect.

She felt numb and lacked motivation; this emptiness was often hidden or neglected because no one else seemed to notice.

Was she to give in to those feelings of emptiness?

Could she pick up the toppled-over Dominoes of her life and stand them up again?

But then, just like a flash of lightning, hope lit up the darkness and  filled her heart…

A WEEK LATER

A person does not just give up or give in when life gets tough.

They YIELD to any defense, turn the other cheek, ignore doubts of others, or, I dont know, surrender to selfish wants.

At least Whitley thought so.

Today was her fifth anniversary of being diagnosed as a chronic pain sufferer.

She knew that she had to have a lot of grace from others for her situation in life.

Whitley also knew that graced is something she had to give herself as well.

– Iain M. Banks
